I have been planning destination weddings since 1996.
Why did you choose to become a Destination Wedding Specialist?
I chose to become a specialist in this niche market as I truly enjoy working with the bride and groom to plan this very special & most significant day in their lives and knowing that I played a major role in that day. It is also most rewarding to hear from them, as well as their family & friends upon their return and hear them rave about how wonderful everything went. This is why I love doing this!
What's your favourite part of the job?
My favourite part of the job is planning for that 'special day' from beginning to end and to watch it come full circle and everyone has a wonderful time.
Which destination is your favourite & why?
My absolute favourite destination is Jamaica and planning any wedding there is always a joy! I love the warmth and friendliness of the people and the food is sooo good you can eat just about anywhere and have a great meal!
Do you have a wedding story you would like to share with us?
My first destination wedding was in 1996 when a young man came into the office. I was working and he wanted to book a wedding/honeymoon at the Holiday Inn Sunspree in Jamaica. Through further questioning, I found out that he and his fiancee were planning to elope as their two families would not stop fighting and arguing about who wanted what at the wedding. This couple was just fed up with all the fighting that they told their families they were going on vacation and after a couple of days of discussions back & forth, they decided to get married at Sandals Montego Bay ,spend the week and then move to the Ten Sing Pen Resort for the 2nd week. It was through this couple that my love of destination weddings began.
