How long have you been planning Destination weddings?
I have been working in the travel industry since 1987...and planning destination weddings for much of that time. I have truly lost count of how many fabulous weddings I have planned... Time flies when you are having fun!!! I honestly love planning destination weddings.
Why did you choose to become a Destination Wedding Specialist?
When I got engaged and started thinking about what I wanted for my own wedding... I began checking out venues, photographers, florists, invitations, dresses, limos ..etc etc etc. PHEWWW I am tired again just thinking about it.. I realized THIS IS A BIG JOB" , and I was not sure I had the time nor energy for it ... in addition to my regular life.
We decided to alleviate the usual stresses of planning the big "in town" style wedding... and ALL that goes with it. We looked at a destination wedding and thought "wow this would mean having only the people at our wedding that we really wanted to be with us, and someone else would be doing almost all the work.
Destination weddings are a fabulous option, and although in the end we could not do ours that way..I now know what it entails and how to book a fabulous one. I guess you could say I am now living vicariously through each and every couple I assist. I plan every destination wedding with the same thought, care, and interest as if it were my own wedding. I love sitting down with each wedding couple, and using some of my many years of experience, put together the perfect destination wedding that they have been dreaming of with their specific budget in mind. I am honored to help design, organize and confirm the wedding of their dreams.
What's your favorite part of the job?
My favorite part of this entire process is three parts:
- When it all comes together...Exactly how the bride and groom envisioned it should be!
- Seeing the smiles on their faces when it all comes together!!!
- Meeting with the couple upon their return to see the pictures from the fabulous wedding we have arranged.
Which Destination is your favorite and why?
My favorite destination... That's a hard question to answer... I have truly enjoyed each and every destination I have been to since becoming a travel consultant. I have enjoyed each and every place I have travelled to for a different reason..every destination has something unique and special to offer. My favorite vacation as a couple has been to Sandals Regency in St Lucia and our favorite vacation as a family has been Beaches in Turks and Caicos... both are fabulous and would be a great choice for either a destination wedding or honeymoon.
Personal philosophy on Love
You will know it when it happens... and when you find it grab hold and don't ever let go!! Usually we only find someone this special once in a lifetime... cherish it!!
Do you have a quick tip for us?
Stay out of the sun the day prior to your wedding... and NO SUN GLASSES either !!!!... You do not want to be sun burned or have raccoon eyes for pictures!!
