Why did you choose to become a Destination Wedding Specialist?
It is something that sort of chose me, when I first began in the business destination weddings were just starting to become the new trend. Now Destination Weddings definitely make up a huge part of my business. It amazes me after planning someone’s destination wedding that a year or two down the line someone that was a guest has now decided to have one of their own. There is something special about a destination wedding, instead of having that special day you get to stretch the festivities into a whole week.
What’s your favourite part of the job?
The planning process—usually Brides tend to plan their destination wedding 8-12 months prior, which means as their agent you really get to know your clients and their preferences and really do become an important aspect of planning their big day.
Which destination is your favourite & why?
Punta Cana is one of my favorite destinations to sell for weddings, because there is such a great selection of properties. It is important for a Wedding group to have a fantastic first impression of their property, followed by great service, amenities and activities. Generally you can find a property that falls in their budget that still delivers the wow factor. You can’t forget as well, the beaches are amazing and make great photo opportunities to capture the moments they want to remember forever.
Do you have any quick tips for us?
Creating a travel wedding/ honeymoon registry is always a nice easy way for the Bride and Groom to cut their own expenses. Also now days, most couples don’t need another set of pots and pans or towels …. So why not instead experience a sunset dinner on a sailboat in Mexico, or zip-lining through the canopies in Costa Rica. These types of gifts are unique and will be truly appreciated.
