Jamaica
The miles of beautiful white sand beaches, the shimmering turquoise sea, the lush tropical foliage, the warm tropical breeze and an easy-going atmosphere makes Jamaica an ideal choice for the perfect wedding away or honeymoon getaway.
The island is home to a wide array of ALL INCLUSIVE accommodations and resort chains including SuperClubs, Couples Resorts, Secrets, Iberostar, Bahia Principe, Sandals Resorts and the ever popular Half Moon Resort. They all shine in their own uniqueness but all with services and amenities to satisfy the most discerning guests. There are also a number of small boutique hotels (not all-inclusive) for those looking for something a little more quiet and intimate.
Although the coconut palms sway to the reggae beat and the island is very laid back, there is an endless choice of things to see and do for those looking for a little more activity. Enjoy a hike through the hills of the Blue Mountain and tour the coffee plantations, climb the lagoons and waterfalls of Dunn’s River, explore the island's ecological treasures from limestone cave labyrinths and gushing waterfalls to mineral springs with curative powers or perhaps a round of golf on one of the island’s world championship golf courses is your cup of ‘tee’.
Many of these resorts offer complimentary wedding packages, for further information on these offers, just ask your Ensemble specialist for all the details. The are three major areas in Jamaica that make incredible locations for a wedding or honeymoon - Montego Bay, Ocho Rios and Negril.
Montego Bay
Montego Bay or ‘Mo Bay’ as it is more commonly called, is Jamaica’s second largest city, but the first when it comes to the island’s
tourism industry. It boasts a wide selection of accommodations, from the older, well-established luxury hotels and the new all-inclusives to many smaller and much more intimate properties.
Mo Bay’s "Hip Strip" is booming with shops, restaurants and clubs, championship golf courses on lavish resorts nearby are second to none, the legendary Colonial great houses bring plenty of charm – and Doctor’s Cave Beach, is one of the most famous beaches on the island. Montego Bay's juxtaposition of natural beauty and man-made luxury make it a beloved destination for any wedding or honeymoon.
Negril
Negril's picturesque coast lined with towering cliffs and bustling beaches, is home to many world-class all-inclusive resorts, as well as nightlife hotspots. Negril's casual, laid-back pace and natural beauty are a feast for the eyes and
soul. Here, anything goes except buildings which are not allowed to be higher than the palm trees!
Here you will one of Jamaica’s prettiest beaches, the famous‚‘Seven Mile Beach‘. Once an idyllic retreat beloved by hippies back in the 1960s, it is now lined with top notch resorts, clubs, beach bars, open-air restaurants and of course –
the vendors. If you want an escape to something a little more quiet and private with less crowds and no vendors to hassel you, head over to the northern end of Negril, out beyond the hotel belt to Long Bay Beach Park. There you will find one of the least crowded Negril Beaches. Set in a park area with picnic tables and change rooms, the beach is private, so visitors must pay a small fee (cost equivalent to a bottle of beer).
Your visit to Negril would not be complete without stopping by at Rick’s Cafe, Negril’s most famous bar. It sits atop a cliff in Negril’s west end. The cafe is open everyday for food and drinks but the main attractions is the incredible sunsets and the cliff jumping displays. You can watch the professionals or participate in the jumping yourself, but this is at your own risk! If you do plan to jump, we strongly suggest you research how to jump safely before taking the leap.
As far as planning a wedding or honeymoon, nothing is more romantic than Negril. The spectacular beach, sparkling aquamarine sea and the amazing sunsets are just a few examples of what Negril has to offer in creating that fairy tale setting for your wedding day or honeymoon. Ocho Rios
On the north coast, in the Parish of St. Ann - considered the “garden parish” because of its’ natural beauty, lies Ocho Rios, where fun and excitement blend with rest and relaxation. Although Ocho Rios, when
translated from Spanish, means “Eight Rivers”, the many waterfalls are perhaps its’ most striking feature including Dunn’s River Falls, a very much-photographed and much-climbed is probably one of Jamaica’s biggest tourist attractions.
Ocho Rios is also famous for Fern Gully, a rocky gorge of tremendous depth which zig-zags for about four miles from the Ocho Rios coast up to
the central mountain area of the island. Although it has become rather commercialized in recent years by souvenir vendors, it is still well worth a visit to see the profusion of tropical ferns (over 500 species) and the kind of foliage only to be found in a tropical rain forest. In the deepest parts of the gorge, only faint dapples of sunshine penetrate through the thick foliage and the temperature is about ten degrees cooler.
From the natural beauty of its waterfalls, rivers and beaches to the grandeur of its all-inclusive resorts, "Ochi" has been a favourite for destination weddings and honeymooners. Ask your Ensemble Destination Wedding Specialist for more details.
