How long have you been planning destination weddings?
15 Years.
Why did you choose to become a Destination Wedding Specialist?
I really enjoy helping a couple plan the most exciting day of their lives.
What’s your favorite part of the job?
My favorite part of planning a wedding or honeymoon is helping the couple chose a destination that is perfect for them. When they come to see me after they return from the trip and tell me the destination was perfect, it’s a great feeling to know I was part of that perfect day!
Which destination is your favorite and why?
My favorite destination is Greece .. Beautiful islands, great people, great weather, great Tzatziki.
Do you have a story you’d like to share with us?
I think my favorite wedding story is about a couple I sent to the BVI’s. I sent a couple to the British Virgin Islands to elope. I was the only person that knew they were going on this wonderful wedding/honeymoon. After they came back home, they were featured in our local newspaper. They commented that “ONLY our travel agent knew about our nuptials”. Again, it’s that feeling that all of the work and research you put into planning this perfect day is all worth it when you see the smiles when they come home!
Do you have a quick tip for us?
Planning a destination wedding can be stressful, especially for the bride. Choose a good travel consultant that you can work with, who will listen to you and who has experience with destination weddings. Sometimes guests don’t always cooperate as far as booking their travel, so find 10 – 20 people to form your group and go from there, instead of trying to form a larger group. From my experience, when you start with the expectation that you will have 80 people on the beach with you for your nuptials, the reality is that you will likely end up with a much smaller number. You want the most important people to be there with you.
