How long have you been planning destination weddings?
I became owner of Rose City Travel over 23 years ago and have served the wonderful people of the Niagara Region since then in many capacities both as a corporate and leisure travel professional
I have been planning destination weddings since they became popular 5 years ago among the 20 something clientele. Since then I have had the pleasure of assisting many couples plan the most important day of their lives.
Why did you choose to become a Destination Wedding Specialist?
I have always been a bit of a perfectionist...okay more than a bit! After hearing many horror stories about "destination weddings gone wrong" I decided that with my years of experience, attention to detail, and desire to ensure an amazing holiday for my clients....that I would like to be part of planning this special day for my clients children who I am proud to say have now become the next generation of Rose City Travel Clients.
What’s your favorite part of the job?
That is an easy one....the smile on my brides face when their special day is perfect. I attend all weddings with passengers exceeding 50, to ensure any situations that may arise can be defused immediately. This allows my bride to concentrate on herself and leave all the worries to me.
Which destination is your favorite and why?
I am partial, very partial to the Riu Palace in Los Cabos Mexico. The sunsets are spectacular. The views from the resort of the Arch and Lovers Beach at Lands End are breathtaking. This is the perfect destination wedding spot.
Do you have a story you’d like to share with us?
I planed a wedding at the Riu Palace in Los Cabos in August of 2010. Keeping in mind we had been planning this wedding, with a party of 80 passengers for approximately 1 year. All the details were finalized, the payments made, wedding set. I received a call from the tour company one sunny day in June to advise me that they would no longer be servicing Los Cabos in the summer months. My options were, Jamaica, Mexico etc...I stopped the conversation immediately and told them that changing the destination was NOT an option. They responded with they were not travelling to Los Cabos so they would refund the money. That was not an option for me. We were going to Cabo and that was final. To make a long story short...I went straight to the top, the president of the company and demanded that they fly us to Cabo by whatever means necessary at their cost because we were getting married in CABO! Not negotiable. I am happy to say all of us made it to Los Cabos and the wedding went off without a hitch and it was truly spectacular.
Do you have a quick tip for us?
If I may, I have a few tips!!!
- Destination weddings usually cost less than traditional weddings. Properly planned a destination wedding can not only save thousands of dollars. it can be an unforgettable vacation for you and your guests.
- You of course can do it yourself BUT is it worth the risk.
- It takes planning as a group to ensure a relaxing and enjoyable experience for you and your guests.
- Choose your SPECIALIST wisely. One that is certified with a history of success and a list of references.
I would be honoured to assist you in planning your DESTINATION WEDDING and look forward to hearing from you.
When sending requests please ensure you put DESTIANTION WEDDING in the subject line.
